The social culture of the Middle Ages was of a traditional type. It was built on the relationship between rich and poor. Their different position was due to the fact that they came from different classes. For most of the Middle Ages, the estates were a constraining factor. People were tied to their wealth. Human rights and freedoms depended on origin. The most powerless class was the peasantry. It received weak support from the state and was infringed upon by the feudal nobility.
