What was the structure of society in medieval India?

As we know, society in ancient India was divided into certain layers, which were called varnas or castes. There were 4 groups in total: the first was the Brahmans (scientists and priests can be attributed to them), Kshatriyas (a group of warriors and guards), Shudras (servants, laborers) and Vaishya (a caste of workers).
