What ways did the philosophers propose to go to the establishment of scientific truth?

Parmenides and Plato understood truth as the identity of being (actual / external reality) and thinking (that is, our ideas). The same Parmenides saw the way to achieve truth in the fabrications of the mind, since feelings and experience can be deceived. Nevertheless, sensationalists refuted such a statement, appealing to sensory knowledge. Empiricists assume that the criteria of truth are verification, observation, and experience. In the past century, many thinkers have seen truth as the result of agreement or pragmatic need.
