What were the causes of World War II?
The main reason for the start of the war today is considered to be the conclusion of the unjust Treaty of Versailles (1918), which imposed on the defeated countries (primarily Germany) severe indemnities, according to which the country was deprived of industrial regions (Ruhr, Alsace, Lorraine), severe restrictions were imposed on the size of the army (not more than one hundred thousand), the formation of tank divisions and aviation is prohibited. For the Germans, this was a national humiliation and laid the foundation for the coming to power of radical politicians (Nazis), whose program included “the reunification of all Germans into one state” – the Reich. This could only be done by military means.
The sluggish reaction of the Western powers to Germany’s demonstrative refusal (after 1933) to comply with Versailles restrictions, and then connivance to Hitler in his territorial seizures (Austria and Czechoslovakia) was also the reason for the start of the war.
