The crusades brought the establishment of existing positions and development to the church and government. The peasants who took part in the campaigns gained freedom from serfdom. Trade, crafts, geography, morality and poetry began to develop. Knightly orders appeared.
However, the nobility became impoverished and feudalism was thoroughly weakened – communities appeared that could acquire benefits from their owners.
