What were the free Athenians called?

Free Athenians, (since the time of Solon) were called those who could participate in the elections of the National Assembly, who could attend court sessions and take direct part. Free Athenians could pass on what they had acquired by inheritance, they could occupy high positions. Free Athenians were called – CITIZENS.
