What were the main differences between the positions of the Left SRs and the Bolsheviks?
Both parties represented the interests of the lower strata of the population and were supporters of a radical reorganization of society. However, there were also disagreements between these parties. The stumbling block between the two parties was the issue of concluding peace with Germany. The Left Socialist-Revolutionaries believed that the conclusion of peace would lead to the defeat of the revolution, and that the German proletariat must be liberated “by the force of Russian arms.” The Bolshevik leadership, on the other hand, focused on the fact that Russia was not able to continue the war. Later, these differences deepened by the difference between the federalism of the Socialist-Revolutionaries, and the democratic centralism of the Bolsheviks.
