The most famous figures of this movement in the Patriotic War of 1812 were: Alexander Figner, Vasilisa Kozhina, Denis Davydov, Gerasim Kurin, Ermolai Chetvetrakov and many others. They were mostly retired military or peasants from damaged villages. But among the partisans there were also poets, for example, Denis Davydov, a friend of A. Pushkin. The partisan movement made a great contribution to the victory.
