We are talking about most of the 13th century, from about 1206, that is, from the creation of the Mongol Empire until 1279, when they completed the conquest of China. The reasons for the success were as follows:
* Some opponents were at the stage of feudal fragmentation. For example, the Russian principalities, their armies were small, therefore they were defeated.
* In China, the Mongols learned how to handle siege weapons, which came in handy in Central Asia and during the siege of Russian cities.
* There was no single Chinese state then, the Mongols fought with its separate parts (Khitan, Tangut, Song Empire and others), they had an advantage in numerous cavalry.
