The Great Northern War in the history of Russia was one of the longest conflicts, which not only brought significant devastation, but also severely crippled the economy. Regarding territorial and political issues, then naturally the Russian Empire achieved significant success. The state included: Livonia, Estland, Ingria, Karelia and St. Petersburg. Also, Peter I in this war was able to achieve the main goal – to get access to the Baltic Sea. In fact, the Northern War was a protracted conflict, as modern historians say, the defeat of Sweden greatly weakened the position of the king in the country, starting the Era of Freedom.
