What were the similarities and differences between Sparta and Attica?

In ancient times, the most important city-states of Greece were Sparta and Athens. They constantly competed with each other, often there were cases when they resorted to foreign aid for the war with each other. The main differences between them were as follows:

Firstly, there was a democracy in Athens, a king ruled in Sparta.
