What would happen to the plants if there were no leaves?

Nature is incredible. Everything in it is balanced and thought out to the smallest detail. Someone thought at least once about the question “why do we need leaf fall”? I think no. And he is much more important than it seems.

Start over. Leaf fall is a logical completion of the plant growth cycle, as well as a rescue mechanism in winter and cold seasons. Plants shed their foliage in order to avoid excessive moisture loss. In the cold season, the earth is very freezing and all the liquids in it too. The plant has nowhere to draw water to maintain life. Leaves would, on the contrary, increase moisture loss. Many shrubs would simply dry out.

In temperate latitudes, a significant layer of snow falls. Quite often in winter, under the weight of snow adhering to trunks and twigs, trees break and fall. If there were leaves, the amount of snow would increase significantly. And the number of fallen or broken trees has increased.

Another function is to remove excess and harmful substances from the plant. At the end of the season, the plant transfers all harmful substances to the leaves. Through this process, the plant gets rid of these substances.
