What zones are distinguished at the root and how do they differ from each other?

At the root, five zones are distinguished, which differ in functions and therefore have a different structure.
1. Root cap – protection, integumentary tissue.
2. Zone of division – the formation of new cells of the root cap and the above-located zone, educational tissue.
3. Zone of elongation – root growth, elongation of cells in length.
4. Suction zone – absorption of water and minerals, cells with root hairs.
5. Zone of conduction – transport of substances, conductive tissues of xylem (vessels) and phloem (sieve tubes).
