This reaction proceeds according to the following chemical reaction equation:
(NH4) 2SO4 + Ca (OH) 2 = 2NH3 + CaSO4 + 2H2O;
Let’s calculate the chemical amount of calcium hydroxide. To do this, we divide its weight by its molar mass.
M Ca (OH) 2 = 40 + 17 x 2 = 74 grams / mol;
N Ca (OH) 2 = 15/74 = 0.203 mol;
During the reaction, 0.203 x 2 = 0.4054 mol of ammonia will be released.
