When and why did the first states appear?

The first states appeared on the territory of Mesopotamia (the territory of modern Iraq and Rana), as well as in the Nile Delta about 4 thousand years ago. Such states were Ancient Egypt, Babylon, the Assyrian state.

The emergence of the first states in this region was due to the fact that the area was suitable for farming and obtaining a stable harvest, the plains facilitated grazing of livestock, access to the rivers provided the construction of the first irrigation facilities.

States emerged as the highest form of uniting people to achieve common goals: housekeeping, protection from enemies.
