When and why did the Olympic Games end in ancient Greece?

The end of the Olympic Games in Greece is associated with the activities of the Christian emperor Theodosius. In his last decree of 392, he limited certain parts of the procedure for the Olympic Games, which made it impossible to hold them in the future. In 393, the last games took place, and Theodosius himself, ironically, died on the day of the horse race. With this emperor, there was an almost complete ban on public holding of pagan cults of worship of the old gods. Since then, paganism has become the lot of ancient families and different parts of the empire, where the ancient gods of the tribes still lived.
