When can sound waves not travel through the air?

Sound is mechanical vibrations that can propagate in various elastic media (various solids, gases, liquids), i.e. the sound-generating bodies must oscillate. The only condition for the propagation of sound waves is the presence of any material medium, therefore, only in a vacuum, sound waves cannot propagate due to the absence of particles that could transmit the interaction from the source of sound vibrations.
