When did the colonial era end?

The decolonization process began after the end of World War II. It peaked in the 1960s. They gained independence, but ethnic conflicts weakened these countries. The USA and the USSR began to fight for the countries: each country, for its part, supported the rebel groups, supplying them with everything they needed.
