When did the Old Russian state come into being?

Relatively conditional, but recognized by all areas of historical science, the date of the formation of the Old Russian state is 882. It was in this year that Oleg, having killed Askold and Dir, became the prince of Kiev, uniting under his rule the two state centers of Novgorod and Kiev.

A long process of state building began, which included the creation of unified government bodies, a tax collection system, the creation of an army and, importantly, religious and spiritual, uniting values.

The end of the formation of the Old Russian state can be said during the reign of Yaroslav the Wise, when the first written laws were adopted – “Ruska Pravda”.
