When two straight lines intersect, four angles are formed. Find the values of each of these angles if you know that: a) one of the angles is 48 degrees b) the sum of the two angles is 156 degrees c) the sum of the three angles is 232 degrees
A) Since 1 angle is 48 °, then 2 (adjacent) angle will be 180 – 48 = 132 °.
Angle 3 will be 48 ° and Angle 4 will be 132 ° respectively (since the vertical angles are equal).
B) If the sum of two angles is 156 °, then these angles are vertical, since the sum of adjacent angles is 180 °.
The degree measure of 1 and 3 angles is 156/2 = 78 °.
The degree measure of 2 and 4 angles is 180 – 78 = 102 °.
C) If the sum of three angles is 232 °, then angles 1 and 3 are 232 – 180 = 52 °.
Therefore 2 and 4 angles are 180 – 52 = 128 °.
