When was serfdom abolished and by whom?

This right was revoked on March 3, 1861. This event took place during the reign of Alexander II, who carried out a peasant reform. For this reason, more than 30 million people were able to get freedom. It is known that one of the important reasons for such changes was constant peasant unrest, but there was also another reason – economic. At that time, the advanced states of Europe were ahead of the Russian Empire in economic development, and therefore, it was decided to abolish serfdom to activate capitalist relations (employer-wage worker).
