When was the battle of El Alamein?

This historic battle can be divided into two parts:

The first took place from 1 to 27 July 1942. Then the Germans were unable to break through the Allied defensive line and were stopped. We can say that it was a draw.

The second battle took place between October 23 – November 4, 1942. Then a large Allied force under the command of Montgomery was able to break through the German defenses and drive back the Afrika Korps. This battle was the first great Allied victory in North Africa.
