Where and how is sound reflection used?

Sound reflection was used during the Second World War, by the British military, they built huge concrete plates that caught the quiet sound over a large area and collected it at one point, thus, you could hear an aircraft approaching from a distance. Also, sound is used in ultrasound, the sound passes through different substances in different ways, which makes it possible to draw a picture from the reflected sound.
