Where and why do the ascending and descending air movements prevail on the globe?

The air mass is set in motion by the difference in atmospheric pressure, while it is possible both in the horizontal (wind) and in the vertical direction (upward – upward, downward – downward).
According to the measurements of scientists, it is possible to distinguish zones with a predominance of low pressure, such as equatorial latitudes and temperate ones, where the entire mass of air is directed from the surface, carrying with it a large volume of moisture – ascending currents.
Zones with high pressure trigger a mechanism called descending from the atmosphere. They descend more often in the tropical and polar zones.
