Where are photosynthetic pigments located?

The photosynthetic pigment, chlorophyll, is located in the two-membrane organelle of the plant cell, the plastid. Inside the plastid are thylakoids – disc-shaped components of the chloroplast, it is they that contain chlorophyll. The thylakoids in the organoid are stacked in stacks called granas. There is a space between the thylakoid clusters – the stroma – the second stage of photosynthesis takes place in it.
