Where are the Sumerians and Akkadians?

Sumer and Akkad were in Mesopotamia (or, as this region is also called, Mesopotamia). It is a fertile flat land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Sumer was located to the south, on the northern shore of the Persian Gulf, where the above rivers flowed into the sea. Akkad was located to the north, in the middle of the rivers. In the second half of the third millennium, the Akkadian state covered vast territories from the Mediterranean coast to the Persian Gulf and included the entire Mesopotamia. Both countries were representatives of the most ancient civilizations.
