Where could adult Athenians improve their knowledge and practice gymnastics?

Adult Athenians, who wanted to continue their gymnastics classes and replenish their knowledge, attended one of the three Athenian gymnasiums until old age.
Outside the city, among the green trees and meadows, there were gymnasiums. They had areas for athletes’ exercise, swimming pools, rooms for relaxation and conversation.
In gymnasiums, well-known scientists performed in front of numerous listeners. They set out their views on the structure of the universe, proposed plans for the creation of an exemplary state, which should be governed by highly educated people.
In gymnasiums, they taught eloquence – the ability to defend one’s opinion when speaking in the People’s Assembly and courts.
