Where did handwritten books come from?

Handwritten books as we know them first appeared in ancient China, after the invention of paper. The reason for the emergence of books was the need to transfer the knowledge accumulated by that time. The Egyptian civilization did not lag behind China, where, many centuries before our era, people owned writing and wrote on rolls of papyrus. On the territory of Kievan Rus, books appeared quite late. They looked like clay tablets, which were connected by leather belts and chains.
