Where did the ancient Germans settle?

The ancient Germans settled mainly in the swampy eastern parts of Europe. This arrangement of the tribes was characteristic of the ancient stage of development. After living for a long time in unfavorable conditions, they became ready to set off on the conquest of the Roman Empire. Gradually, they drove out the indigenous people and other local residents. By the 5th century, the Germans already occupied the western part of Europe. Thanks to the weakening of the state, they managed to defeat the Roman Empire completely and establish their own rules and regulations there.
