Where did the interests of the free and slave states diverge?

At the heart of the contradictions that arose between the North and the South of the United States were different areas of activity. The northern part of the country was engaged in the development of industrial enterprises where it was impossible to use slave labor. As a result, historically, free people worked here.

The southern part of the state was agrarian, where slaves worked on cotton plantations, whose labor was free.

Contradictions began to arise on the basis of such inequities in labor remuneration. At first, this was reflected in parliamentary discussions. However, in the future, the tension increased to such an extent that it went beyond the walls of parliament and was reflected in hostilities.
