Where does the energy in the food we eat come from?

The main source of energy on our planet for most living organisms is glucose. Glucose is synthesized during photosynthesis by plants. Man, other animals, fungi and many other living organisms are heterotrophs, that is, organisms that absorb ready-made organic matter. Plants are autotrophs. When we eat plant foods, we get glucose. We also get it when we eat animal food. Heterotrophs can eat not only autotrophs, but also use intermediaries – other heterotrophs.
