Where is the Arctic Desert Zone?

Arctic deserts are located in the very north of the Arctic, on the shores of the Arctic Ocean. The land here is covered with ice, fragments of rocks, and the soils themselves are very poor – only a few lichens and some undersized grasses can grow on them. All year round in this area it is very cold: up to -55 degrees in winter and +2 in summer, there is almost always a thick layer of snow, there are strong winds. Animals live here, get their food mainly in the water, birds – along the coastal zones.
