Where were the remains of the first person found?

The very first finds of an ancient man were found in southern Africa near Townsie (South Africa) during archaeological excavations in 1924. The famous anthropologist Raymond Dart was involved in the work on the ancient remains. He determined that the bones of the creature belonged to Australopithecus, who lived on earth in the pre-Paleolithic period about 3 million years ago.
