Which country was responsible for the outbreak of World War I?

The First World War began on July 28, 1914. The reason for this was the assassination of the Erz-Duke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, where he arrived on “Vidov dan”, that is, the memorable day for the Serbs of defeat in the Battle of Kosovo in 1389. Contemporaries believed that it would be better if he did not. The murder was carried out by a terrorist organization, it was associated with the Serbian leadership. It is no coincidence then that the Balkans were compared to a powder magazine.

Consequently, the main countries that were responsible for unleashing the war were Austria-Hungary (Germany stood with it) and Serbia, where, after the coup of 1903, the supporters of rapprochement with the Russian Empire and confrontation with Austria-Hungary won.

Following them, the Russian Empire and Germany entered the war.
