Which element is better for metallic properties: Al or P?

Aluminum and phosphorus are elements of one, third period. Metallic properties in periods increase from right to left. This is due to the number of electrons in the last energy level. Let’s consider the structure of the atoms of these elements. Al (+13) – 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p1; P (+15) – 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p3. Al before the completion of the level lacks 5e and it is easier for it to give 3e from the external level, therefore it exhibits metallic properties, while non-metals usually take electrons, P lacks 3e, so it is non-metallic.
