Which era is often called the era of the reptiles?

The era during which the planet was dominated by reptiles is called the Mesozoic. During this era, the climate on Earth was hot, ferns and various tropical gymnosperms grew everywhere. Almost all niches in the animal community were occupied exclusively by reptiles. Birds and mammals did not appear at the beginning of the Mesozoic era. Reptiles then lived both on land and occupied the seas and oceans and were able to fly. The largest of the reptiles, the dinosaurs, also existed in the Mesozoic era.
