Which Greek cities rebelled against the Persians?

In the 5th century BC. there was a war between the Greek city-states and the Achaemenid empire. Some of the poleis were captured by the Persians, and some continued to resist. So Athens and Sparta became the centers of resistance. The first significant victory of the Greeks in the war was the battle near the settlement of Marathon. There the Persian troops were defeated and thrown back into the sea. In 479 BC. there was a decisive battle of this period, it unfolded in Plataea. There the main Persian forces suffered a crushing defeat.
