The most outstanding during the reign of the Byzantine emperor Justinian was the construction of the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. This Cathedral was the largest in the world for almost a thousand years. It was a symbol of the power and might of the Christian emperor of Byzantium, the defender of Christianity and the preacher of the Faith in one God. This Cathedral exists at the present time, converted by the Turks into a mosque. Thus, the Hagia Sophia is currently approximately 1480 years old.
