Which parts of the brain perform only a reflex function?
The medulla oblongata is an important part of the central nervous system; it is an extension of the spinal cord. The medulla oblongata has nuclei that are responsible for the autonomic functions of the body. In these cores
there are centers of relatively simple and complex reflexes that regulate:
1) breathing;
2) digestion (salivation, swallowing, secretion of pancreatic and gastric juices, etc.);
3) cardiac activity and blood vessels;
4) the work of electrical organs;
5) the work of chromatophores;
6) the work of the taste organs;
7) the work of the spinal cord;
8) a protective reflex (cough, vomiting, sneezing).
A couple more parts of the brain and reflexes, for which they are responsible: the midbrain – a tonic reflex, which maintains the stability of the body, and indicative; diencephalon – late reflex.
