Which state initiated the unification of Germany and why?

With the outbreak of the Napoleonic Wars, the process of unification of Germany began within the framework of the German Confederation. After the defeat of France, two states claimed the supremacy in the unification of Germany – Prussia and Austria.

The initiator was still Prussia, which began to include the Northern German lands. More developed industrially and not taking the brunt of the Napoleonic wars and the revolution of 1848, and also supported by the bourgeoisie, Prussia became the center of Germany.
