| These mushrooms feed on the smallest creatures that live in water bodies. Among the prey of mushrooms, there are unicellular animals like amoeba, insect larvae, microscopic roundworms of a nematode. Because mushrooms cannot move and actively hunt, they catch their food with bait, like a fish with a hook. The bait is represented by microscopic outgrowths that the victim absorbs.
