Who consisted of the army of the policy? What was the name of the combat formation of this army?

Most of the troops of the policy consisted of heavily armed infantrymen – hoplites. When the hoplites went into battle, they lined up in a special way: several hundred people stood in a row – one next to the other; other warriors lined up behind them in the same way, in the back of each other’s heads. There were usually 6-8 such rows. This battle formation was called a phalanx.
