Who first measured atmospheric pressure with which thermometer?

| For the first time, an experiment on measuring pressure was put on the initiative of Torricelli by his student Viviani.
A glass tube sealed on one side was completely filled with mercury and closed with a finger. After immersing the closed part of the tube in a cup of mercury, the finger was removed. Some of the mercury has spilled out of the tube.
In 1943, Torricelli processed the results of the experiments and found:
– there is nothing above the mercury in the tube (vacuum);
– mercury does not completely flow out of the tube because atmospheric air presses on the surface of the mercury in the cup.
Answer: Torricelli, using a mercury barometer.
