France, being an absolutist monarchy, in which the king had unlimited power, represented an estate society. The first two estates were privileged. The clergy and the second estate are nobles. In their hands were all government offices, as well as rich lands. While society was feudal, this estate dominated, but with the emergence of capitalist relations and the emergence of a rich bourgeoisie, a conflict of political interests matured. It was not the entry of the bourgeois into the second estate that led to the French Revolution.
