Who was the Athenian demos made of?

According to the law passed by Pericles, adult men (from 18 years old) who were born in Athens from a father and mother who were born in the same city-state received the rights: to own a house, premises for a workshop, land, slaves, to take part in voting and others. They worshiped the statue of Demos, who personified the people in Greek mythology, and were designated by the term “demos”. It did not include other free, but not full-fledged citizens, as well as the ruling elite and the wealthy aristocracy.
