Whose interests in rome did the law abolishing debt slavery meet?

The abolition of debt slavery in Rome was in the interests of the plebeians, because it was they who most often fell into it. But the wealthy Romans also benefited from this law. In order to get a loan, a person could no longer register himself or his children as collateral, so there was a need for guarantors. Rich people willingly became them, and in “gratitude” for their service they could demand to do any work for them or to vote for them or a candidate they liked at the elections to the magistrate.
