Why and why was the Peace of Tilsit concluded?

The Peace of Tilsit was concluded in 1807 between Emperor Alexander I and Napoleon Bonaparte.

The reason Alexander I decided to make peace with Napoleon is that Bonaparte had defeated the Russian army shortly before. In that war, Russia supported Prussia.

Upon learning of this defeat, Alexander I ordered his entourage to agree with Napoleon about a meeting and discuss the current situation.

Bonaparte, taking advantage of the prevailing circumstances, forced Russia to become an ally of France in the continental blockade of England, despite the fact that England at that time was one of the main trading partners of Russia.
