Why are birds the dominant group among vertebrates?

Birds are the most highly organized class of vertebrates. They have a higher level of development of the nervous system, the highest body temperature, which is constant and associated with a high metabolic rate, and most importantly, the ability to fly, which gives more opportunities for movement. These features allow birds to spread almost everywhere, even more widely than mammals, resulting in a variety and abundance of species.
