Why are equatorial forests located only in western Africa?

Equatorial forests require high temperatures and moisture throughout the year to form. Such conditions are observed only in the west and central part of Africa, while in the east in the equatorial zone the savannah extends. The thing is that the eastern part is located mainly on a high-mountainous plateau, which is elevated more than a thousand meters above sea level, and because of this, in the east, the temperature and precipitation are unstable and change from drought season to rainy season.
