Why are moss, fern and angiosperms higher plants?

According to the outdated version of the classification of plants, the entire plant kingdom was divided into two subkingdoms: higher and lower plants. The latter included algae, and until the 19th-early 20th century – also lichens and fungi. However, then the mushrooms were bred into a separate kingdom. It also turned out that lichens are not plants. In this regard, now the term “lower plants” is used only in relation to algae, in which the body does not have a vegetative division into different levels. Angiosperms, mosses and ferns have vegetative organs, therefore they are considered higher plants.
